On my father`s side there is little known.My grandfather Edward James Franklin was orphaned, along with his  four siblings and we don;t know who raised them. Their parents, Maggie Wise and James Roy Franklin, are  difficult to find any information on. It is believed there is Cherokee blood in our family but there is no way to  prove this for we do not know who Maggie`s or James`s parents are. They married at  seventeen, had 5  children, the year after Maggie had Edward James, she died of pneumonia at 29. James remarried but we  don`t know when he died because the kids don`t  know much about him. They evidently moved around a lot.  There being evidence of having lived in Illinois, Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. So not knowing who was  born exactly where is troublesome. Why did they name Ed `Evert` and why did he not like that name. He  change it in 1942 to Edward James when he applied for a birth Certificate. His sister Pearl verified it for him. If  it were up to his Brother Aleck, his name would have still been Evert, for he always called him by his  original name. The only one he allowed to call him that. We know more about My grandmother, Della Francis  Story. She was her daddy`s favorite and her mother didn`t like that. Her mother was married once before to  Meeks and had a son, then to Marion Story and had 5 more. Della and Minnie were very close. Minnie was a  sweet person. Della was always fearful of things, we don`t know why. But she was a hard worker.
